Homemade Protein Bars

Homemade Protein Bars

I don’t know what took me so long, but I FINALLY made my first batch of homemade protein bars and like everyone else says, why didn’t I do this sooner?! These were so easy, delicious, filling, nutritious, and made with real ingredients that I can pronounce. I was worried that they were going to be chalky and dry, because I am NOT a baker by any means and tend to be very critical when it comes to trying new recipes…BUT…When I woke up and had one before an intense workout, I was so proud of myself and happy and so was my belly! It’s the little things friends!

It is very fulfilling to be able to make food at home these days, when you have the control over the ingredients and you know what you are putting in your body. These bars are by no means the same texture or taste as say a store bought protein bar, but that’s okay with me. I would rather have “not so perfect” taste and texture than all the toxic crap. Plus, making your own bars at home is definitely cheaper too, so I would say that this cooking experiment was a huge success!

INGREDIENTS

DIRECTIONS

  1. Mix the nut butter and honey in a large bowl;

  2. Add in the rolled oats into the mix;

  3. Add in the protein powder and chocolate chips;

  4. Mix everything up until well blended! I just used my hands…it was much easier;

  5. Smoosh the mixture into a 8x8 baking dish with parchment paper;

  6. Place in the fridge for one hour;

  7. Cut into squares and keep in the fridge until ready to eat!

  8. Enjoy!

NOTES

  • Prep Time - 10 minutes

  • Servings - 9 (depending on how big you cut them)

  • Course - Snack/Pre-Workout

  • Add Ins - Very versatile and could add dried fruit, nuts, coconut oil, if the texture is too dry! Lots of options and very adaptable to your dietary needs!

Let me know if you have any questions…I hope that you enjoy these as much as I do!
