COFFEE TALK - APRIL 2020

HEY!!! How is everyone doing? I cannot WAIT until we are opened back up. I am tired of being on this emotional roller coaster. I look forward to when meltdowns are not a reoccurring thing. I am ready for us to live our LIVES and to support our local restaurants, fitness studios, hair, and nail salons. This is not a normal way to live and I don’t want it to be the “new normal”. ALL THE THINGS one day at a time! Am I right?!?! It has been a while since I have done a “coffee talk” post, so why not now…Grab a cup of coffee or tea or WINE and let’s catch up!

ME AND SHANNON

OMG…we are coming up on THREE YEARS next week…All I can say is WOW and WOW in a good way! I still need to share our story and I have said that so many times, but I promise that I will. I have been very honest about how I have felt during this crisis and it has been hard on me and I know that I have been a pain in the ass to deal with. Shannon has been unbelievably patient and kind with the emotional roller coaster that I have been on. When I get in a mood, I can get in a mood and he has constantly been there to help around the house, to be present, and to try to make me laugh.

Being in quarantine with your significant other is a learning experience…I mean if you can make it through this you are strong, in love, and made for each other. AM I RIGHT?!?

BOOKS THAT I HAVE READ

I love to read, but lately, I am finding it really hard to concentrate at night to really get into a book. It is frustrating AF, because reading helps me unwind at the end of the day. It calms my brain and allows me to unplug. When I climb into bed I am either so tired I fall asleep, which is around 9:00 PM...like WHAT? Or I like I said, I cannot concentrate, so I end up watching something on TV.

THREE books that I highly recommend:

  1. Prince of Tides

  2. Where the Crawdads Sing

  3. Before We Were Yours

TWO books that are next on the list:

  1. South of Broad

  2. The Great Alone

RECENT EATS

Nothing has really changed, except that we are eating at home a lot more…obviously! We will do takeout once a week to support the local businesses, but otherwise just simple, easy, nutritious, and delicious home-cooked meals. But that brownie was pretty EPIC…I picked it up at NY Butcher Shoppe, where we get our ribeyes. It was staring at me at the counter and knew I had to have it. It was insanely DELISH!

PRODUCTS I CURRENTLY LOVE

  • TIEM - I recently purchased the Slipstream Cycling shoes when I was sent into quarantine. I have been eyeing these shoes for a while and I LOVE them! They are comfortable, functional, versatile, and, of course, stylish. I use them for some quick at-home workouts, after a spin class. I highly recommend them if you are looking for a spin shoe.

  • Amara Beauty Vitamin C Cleanser - I recently did an Instagram TV post about these products, which you can view HERE. I have been using this cleanser for almost a month and I really like it. I use it twice a day and it has really helped clean up this sweaty skin. You can use KATIE20 to get 20% off your order and also FREE shipping on orders over $25.00. Check them out!

  • DAK’S SPICES - YES, I may be biased because I do their social media, but HONESTLY, these spices are the BEST and I legit use them every single day. The three that I use the most are KABOOM (the spiciest one they offer…it is freaking HOT), Steakhouse (so GOOD on steaks and hamburger meat. I hear it is also good to add to bacon), and Chocolate Crave! You can use KATIEUHRAN10 and get 10% off your order. They are salt-free, vegan, paleo, and keto. BOOM!

**I have started doing “Product Reviews” on my Instagram page, every Monday. I will be talking more about these products as well as other products that I use, wear, eat, etc., so make sure you are following along HERE!!!

WORKOUTS

I miss running so so so much, but I am trying to let the pain in my knee heal. I have maybe run outside twice this entire month. I am trying VERY hard to listen to my body and not make it worse. I am HOPING and PRAYING that May is going to be a promising month for all of us and that I can get out there more to hit the pavement and let that shit GO, so we can ALL move forward! Whoops...that was a little deep and bigger picture...Anywho...this is what I have been doing this month...

MethodRide - I have been riding a LOT! For those days when it is hard to get the motivation to really get my heart rate up or even just move...Getting on the spin bike has become my “go-to”. The workouts are intense, sweaty, and I LOVE that it is a full-body workout. The BEST part is, is that I feel stronger in my legs and upper body...BOOM!

The Works - ZOOM baby ZOOM...It is hard to do yoga at home, I am not going to lie. It is just not the same not being in that hot room with my friends and sweating our asses off. I miss them SO MUCH, but I want to support them, so, for now, this is what I have to do. Just suck it up buttercup!

At-Home Workouts - Let’s be REAL...It is not easy to do a workout by yourself, especially now in your home, which we are all stuck in. We are just tired of it and even I have moments when I just want to F-IT and throw in the towel. BUT I always know how I am going to feel after, so I just do it, no matter how badly I want to talk myself out of it. Blast the music and JUST DO IT! Try this one...Get it all done in 15 minutes! Let me know if you have any questions. Also, check out these ones HERE and HERE.

*Make sure you are following me on Instagram so you can check out and try out these workouts too!*

WALKING WALKING WALKING - I have always loved walking with Lucy, but now more than ever I crave it every day. I am mindful of Lucy though, because sometimes her hips have been hurting, so I make sure to give her days off too. With the weather being so beautiful lately, just getting out there and walking through the neighborhoods has been so peaceful. The smell of the honeysuckles, seeing everything blooming, and seeing so many PEOPLE riding, walking, running, makes me happy. It makes me happy to see people moving their bodies and taking advantage of this gorgeous time of year in Charleston.

How are YOU doing?

Have a beautiful week and stay healthy, safe, and SANE! xoxo
