April MOTIVATION - Workout & Recipe

Why HELLO April…How did you sneak up on us so quickly?!?! Longer days, lots of sunshine, warmer temperatures, the trees and flowers blooming…YES PLEASE! I love this time of year. It’s like a fresh start as everything comes back to life and it just feels GOOD. To kick off the new month and new season, I think it was a good idea to start with something that makes you feel good inside and out…a workout and a recipe will do the job…Let’s GO!

These moves are some of my favorites for ALL THE REASONS!!! When I am training on my own with weights, I keep it really SIMPLE! I do the basics…I do basic moves that work the entire body. In all honesty, when I workout in the gym, I want to be in and out. Lifting weights is NOT my favorite thing to do, but I know how important it is for my training and my overall well being, so I suck it up and do it. The research has been proven that strength training, especially for women is a MUST and the list of benefits go on and on, so suck it up buttercup and let’s GO!

What are the BENEFITS about lifting weights:

  • Build more muscle burn more fat ALL day long (this is still really hard for me to wrap my head around);

  • Strengthen your bones and joints;

  • Prevents injury;

  • Improves everything else that you are training for - running, spinning, yoga, and LIFE;

  • MOOD boost - Let the endorphins come out to play;

  • Improves memory and brain health!

There are really NO negatives to lifting weights and I sometimes have to remind myself of this as well, when I slip back to doing all the cardio and ignoring the weights. Lifting weights is empowering and I truly always leave the gym with a bigger smile and feeling strong AF. And when Shannon asks me to carry the heavier part of a toilet up the stairs and I can do it, well there you go…Badass right there!

So the workout below is AWESOME!

What I LOVE about these moves:

  • Requires minimal equipment

  • You can do them anywhere

  • Improves balance, stability, and endurance

  • Increases heart rate, which in return helps you burn more calories, fat, and build muscle

  • Makes you strong AF

I demonstrate all of these moves HERE, so make sure that you are following me, because this is where I will start posting my workouts.

And what’s the best way to refuel, nourish, and heal those muscles after a workout?!?!

A jam-packed healthy and delicious smoothie! YES!!!!

I am back to eating smoothies again (yes…I eat my smoothies with a spoon, because they are thick and packed with granola clusters, and obviously you can’t use a straw)! I took a break from smoothies, because I noticed that they were upsetting my stomach, causing some bloat, and they weren’t tasting good, so I stepped away.

This past week though I had a serious craving for one and I decided I would give it a try and see what happened. I think I know what the culprit was because I have had three smoothies so far this week and I feel GREAT…GO ME!

So much good stuff to kick off April and there is more to come!

Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns…I love hearing from y’all!

xoxo
