How I Keep Lucy Healthy and Happy

AHHH…Look at my little nugget! It almost brings me to tears…I have been so lucky and blessed to have Lucy in my life. We have been through a lot together and I LOVE her with all my heart. Dogs RULE and Lucy RULES, so making sure that she stays healthy and happy as she gets older is very important to me!

We are two little mermaids who are actually very similar in many ways, so I’m glad that her love for the ocean, long walks on the beach, obsession with peanut butter, good food, align with me…LOL! But in all seriousness, I make sure to keep her active, hydrated, and nourished, so that she can be with me as long as possible.

Born and raised in Houston, Lucy loves the heat almost as much as I do, but we have to be careful of heat exhaustion, heat stroke, sunburns, and dehydration! Their well-being is just as important as ours. And now that we live in Charleston, the heat and humidity in the Spring/Summer months is just as intense as Houston, so I am very aware of Lucy’s health, since we are so active together.

A lot of the information that I am sharing today may be repetitive to all you dog lovers out there, but it is a topic that sometimes we all just need a friendly reminder of every now and then, especially as the hotter months approach. And if you are like me, I want the BEST for Lucy and I want her to live a long, healthy, active, fulfilling life.

FIRST…Let’s talk about the HEAT and how to monitor your dog’s health during the hotter months!

Signs Of Heat Stress:

  • Anxiousness

  • Excessive panting

  • Restlessness

  • Excessive drooling

  • Unsteadiness

  • Abnormal gum and tongue color

  • Collapse

Ways To Protect Your Dog In The Summer:

  • Never, ever leave your dog in the car

  • Make sure your dog has unlimited access to fresh water

  • Make sure your dog has access to shade when outside

  • Take walks during the cooler hours of the day

  • When walking, try to stay off of hot surfaces (like asphalt) because it can burn your dog’s paws

SECOND…let’s talk about Ameo Life and how their Structured Silver can assist with their natural wellness. Y’all know how much I love their products and use them daily, so the fact that I can use them to help with Lucy’s wellness is an added bonus. And there are a LOT of benefits.

Structured Silver Benefits for Dogs/Pets:

  • Protects against pathogens

  • Supports the immune system

  • Assists in reducing inflammation

  • Promotes oral health

  • Promotes healthy skin/coats

  • Soothes small wounds, cuts, burns

  • May help calm digestive ailments

  • Extremely safe

Suggested ways to use Structured Silver on Dogs/Pets:

  • Silver Solution in water bowl

  • Gel pumped into mouth/on skin

  • Gel on toothbrush

  • Spritzing mouth rinse/fresh breath spray into mouth

Just like with humans it is best to just keep it simple…Daily movement, lots of sunshine, stay hydrated, eat good food, and spoil yourself every now and then. I do the same for Lucy and I would say she looks pretty healthy and VERY happy! We are just two little mermaids living our best life down South!
